Collin Veijer scores important points with eleventh place finish in Brno

Collin Veijer finished eleventh in Sunday’s Moto2 race at the Czech Grand Prix. At the Autodrom Brno, the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider delivered a solid performance under demanding conditions, adding five valuable World Championship points to his tally.

After a weekend of consistently high temperatures, the Moto2 riders once again faced challenging conditions on Sunday. During the race, track temperatures rose to approximately 46 degrees Celsius.

Starting from eleventh on the grid, Veijer made an excellent start to the race. The 21-year-old rider from Staphorst immediately gained two positions through the opening corners and completed the first lap inside the top ten. During the early stages, he held his own well in the chasing group while the leaders gradually opened up a gap at the front.

Throughout the second half of the race, Veijer continued to battle for a place inside the top ten. In the closing stages, the Dutchman began to struggle more physically, making it difficult to maintain his pace. He ultimately crossed the finish line in eleventh place, just six tenths of a second behind his teammate José Antonio Rueda.

The five points earned move Veijer up to eleventh place in the Moto2 World Championship standings with a total of 41.5 points. After several difficult Grand Prix weekends, the result marked a welcome step forward for the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider.

Collin Veijer: “Today we managed to make a step forward with the bike setup, which is very positive. Overall, the feeling was not bad. The start was good and we immediately gained two positions. From around the final nine laps onwards, things became a bit more difficult physically. We will take this result, because the most important thing was to finish the race and score points. We know there is still more potential to unlock, so we will keep working on that. During this race and throughout the entire weekend, we showed a lot of positive things. We are ready to start my home Grand Prix in Assen next weekend.”

The next challenge for Veijer and the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 Team comes immediately. Next weekend, the Tissot TT Assen takes place, where the Dutch rider will compete in front of his home crowd.
