Collin Veijer (P16) Finishes just outside the points at the German Grand Prix

Collin Veijer delivered Sunday a solid performance at the German Grand Prix, climbing from 25th on the grid to 16th at the chequered flag. Unfortunately, a red flag cut the race short, denying him the opportunity to fight for the final points-paying positions, which were just a few tenths of a second ahead.

While Saturday’s sessions were heavily affected by rain, the Moto2 race on Sunday took place under perfect track conditions and pleasant temperatures. Veijer didn’t get off to the best start and dropped to 25th on the opening lap. Once he settled into the race rhythm, he gradually moved up to 23rd and became part of a six-rider battle for 18th position.

The Dutchman stayed in this group for much of the race, capitalising on incidents ahead to climb further up the order. He had worked his way into 16th when the red flag was shown, ultimately leaving him just outside the points – only half a second away from 14th place. Veijer remains 20th in the Moto2 World Championship standings with 13 points.

Collin Veijer (Red Bull KTM Ajo) | P16 | +18.982: “It was a difficult start today, and we struggled a bit in the early laps. After that, I managed the pace well and our feeling improved, but we were still quite far off. Starting from the back in Moto2 is always tough to overcome, although we had enough pace to be further up today. Overall, the feeling was good, but it was a difficult weekend for us. We take away the positives and the lessons learned so we can be better in Brno, where we’ll face a new track.”

Red Bull KTM Ajo and Collin Veijer now look ahead to the Czech Republic Grand Prix at Brno, which returns to the international calendar from July 18–20.
