Collin Veijer finishes just outside the points in Brno

On Sunday at the Czech Grand Prix, Collin Veijer narrowly missed out on scoring points, crossing the line in 16th place. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider endured a tough start but mounted an impressive comeback from 23rd to finish just two seconds shy of the points-paying positions.

Collin Veijer’s race began with difficulty as he lost five positions off the line, slipping to 21st by the end of the opening lap. Struggling to find his rhythm early on, the Dutch rookie dropped as low as 23rd on lap two. However, he responded with determination, gradually making up ground with consistent lap times and excellent tyre management. Lap after lap, Veijer clawed his way through the field, ultimately finishing 16th. With 13 points scored so far this season, he remains 20th in the overall Moto2 standings.

Collin Veijer, P16, +21.754s: “We lost a lot of places in the first two laps. We need to analyse this because it keeps happening, and I need to correct it by being more aggressive. I have to stay more focused, as it really affects the rest of the race. It’s a shame because I felt great today. The pace was strong and consistent right to the end. We were just one position away from the points, so there are definitely positives to take from this weekend. We’ll work hard over the summer break to come back stronger in Austria.”

With 13 points scored so far this season, he remains 20th in the overall Moto2 standings.

The Moto2 World Championship resumes with the Austrian Grand Prix, taking place from August 15–17.
