Collin Veijer starts Sunday in Argentina from P17 on the grid
Collin Veijer claimed Saturday at the Autodromo Termas de Rio Hondo P17 in Q2. The LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP Moto3 team will start the second race of the season from row six.
Saturday brought no further changes ahead of qualifying as rain set in at the Autodromo Termas de Rio Honda earlier in the morning, which is why the LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP Moto3 rider decided not to compete in P3 after he had already secured his place in Qualifying 2 on Friday.
The Dutchman picked up in Argentina where he left off at the season opener in Portimao. The 18-year-old secured direct entry into the fiercely contested Q2 with his 1'49.562, in which he earned a seventeenth place on the grid after technical difficulties. The ambitious Dutchman hopes to score his next World Championship points, as he did in Portimão.
Collin Veijer, (P17): "Yesterday the feeling was really good so I thought, I could be more in front. We made a big step yesterday but we also made some changes to the rear tyre and the feeling was just okay. When I did the outlap of the first exit, I had a technical issue so I had so to come in again. The team changed everything once more and then finally I went out again alone and tried my best. On my second lap, I finally saw the group in front of me. I tried to follow them but the gap was too big to make us slipstream. I did the lap alone but had a reference. I am disappointed and not happy with the qualifying and I hope I can do better tomorrow."
The Gran Premio Michelin de la República Argentina starts for Moto3 at 16:00 (CEST).
