Collin Veijer starts at Le Mans from row 7
Changeable conditions made the LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP team's efforts on the qualifying Saturday at Le Mans more difficult. Collin Veijer had to settle for 19th on the grid after a violent highsider during Q1.
Collin Veijer had in Q1 to cope with a nasty highsider in turn 10 on a top lap while trying to make it into Q2. At the moment, the disappointment of failing to progress to Q2 and being 19th on the grid is predominant, but the 18-year-old Veijer's real hope is that the painful aftermath of the crash will not prevent him from exploiting his good pace in the race and making a push for the points.
P5 (Q1) – 1’43.816 (+1.170): "For this morning it was good to ride in the rain in order to get a better feeling after I missed the last 15 minutes yesterday. Finally, I felt quite good in these rainy conditions and we made some good progress and were able to push the limits. In Qualifying, even riding alone, I was faster than yesterday pretty much straight away but then I came back in the garage and maybe that wasn't the smartest decision. As I went out again, I was by myself so I was waiting for quite some time but finally had to ride alone, I tried my very best to make it to Q2 and I was on a good way but then I high-sided in Turn 10 which was pretty painful. Luckily the feeling before was quite good and I improved my own lap by one second so it would have been a really good lap but it wasn't meant to be, I know why I crashed."
The start of the Moto3 race in Le Mans is Sunday at 11:00 am (CEST).
