Collin Veijer ends first half of the season with ninth place at the Sachsenring

Collin Veijer finished ninth in Sunday’s Moto2 race at the Liqui Moly Grand Prix of Germany. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider delivered another consistent performance at the Sachsenring, scoring World Championship points for the third consecutive Grand Prix. It also marked his third top ten finish in the last five races.

Racing under sunny conditions, with an ambient temperature of 26°C and a track temperature of 41°C, Veijer made an excellent start from ninth on the grid. The Dutchman held his position during the opening laps, once again demonstrating the progress he has made with his starts in the Moto2 class.

For much of the race, Veijer was part of the group battling for seventh place and spent several laps fighting with his teammate José Antonio Rueda. The 21-year-old rider from Staphorst held onto eighth position until the closing stages, but with only a few laps remaining he was passed by Rueda. As tyre wear increased, Veijer was no longer able to match the pace in the final laps and eventually crossed the finish line in ninth place.

With his ninth-place finish, Veijer added another valuable haul of World Championship points to his tally. It was his third consecutive points-scoring finish and his third top ten result in the last five Grands Prix. After eleven rounds of the 2026 Moto2 World Championship, the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider sits tenth in the championship standings with 55.5 points.

Collin Veijer: “I’m happy with today’s result. We made a big step forward with the setup, which gave me a much better feeling during the race than I had for the rest of the weekend. I made a good start, but we were still missing a little bit in the opening laps. Compared to yesterday, I felt much better on the bike. We solved a few issues and regained a lot of confidence. That’s very important heading into the second part of the season. We scored solid points once again, and during the summer break we’ll focus on improving our weak points so we can come back as competitive as possible at Silverstone.”

Following the German Grand Prix, the Moto2 field now heads into the summer break. The 2026 Moto2 World Championship will resume on the weekend of August 7–9 with the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
