Collin Veijer to remain with Red Bull KTM Ajo in Moto2 for 2027

Collin Veijer will continue to compete for Red Bull KTM Ajo in the Moto2 World Championship in 2027. The 21-year-old rider from Staphorst and the Finnish team have extended their partnership, meaning Veijer will embark on his third season in the Moto2 class next year. His current teammate José Antonio Rueda will also remain with the team in 2027.

The contract extension will allow Collin Veijer to continue his development within the familiar Red Bull KTM Ajo environment. Following his rookie season in 2025, the rider from Staphorst has taken a clear step forward this year. Veijer has become a regular presence among the fastest riders in the class and has qualified directly for Q2 at every Grand Prix weekend this season.

That progress is also increasingly being reflected in strong race results. Veijer has already claimed two podium finishes in 2026, including at the most recent Grand Prix at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. With 75.5 points, he currently occupies tenth place in the Moto2 World Championship standings.

Veijer also claimed his first Moto2 pole position this season, becoming the first Dutch rider in 35 years to start a Grand Prix in the intermediate class from pole position. He had already secured his maiden Moto2 podium in 2025, during his rookie season.

Confidence and continuity

With the contract extension, Veijer, Red Bull KTM Ajo and KTM have opted for continuity. Their partnership began in 2025, when Veijer stepped up to Moto2 after two seasons in Moto3. In his third season with the team in 2027, the aim will be to take another step forward.

Team Manager Niklas Ajo is pleased that the partnership will continue and believes there is plenty of potential for further progress together.

Niklas Ajo: “Collin has grown together with us over the past two years. He has now shown that he has everything it takes to make that final step towards the front positions in this class. That is why I am very happy that he will stay with us and that we can try to take that step together.”

For Veijer, continuing with Red Bull KTM Ajo is also important with regard to his ambitions for the future. The Dutchman wants to continue developing in Moto2 before ultimately making the step up to MotoGP, preferably within the KTM structure.

Collin Veijer: “I’m very happy that I can stay with the team and grateful that KTM and Red Bull continue to have confidence in me for next year. I want to accelerate our progress and get closer to my goal of eventually becoming a MotoGP rider. I hope that dream will come true one day, and I hope it will be with KTM.”

Veijer and Rueda to remain teammates

José Antonio Rueda will also remain part of Red Bull KTM Ajo in 2027, meaning the team will retain its current Moto2 line-up in full. For Rueda, it will be his second season in Moto2 and his fifth consecutive year with the Finnish team.

Both Veijer and Rueda have a long history within the Red Bull and KTM development structure. Both riders competed in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup before making the step into the Grand Prix paddock.

For Veijer, the new agreement means that he will compete with Red Bull KTM Ajo in Moto2 for a third consecutive season in 2027. For now, however, the focus remains fully on the remainder of the current season, in which the Dutchman is determined to continue his strong development and fight for the leading positions once again.
